Don't get your friend to take your wedding pictures unless they have photographed a wedding before....Do not get a friend of a friend if you have not seen their pictures of a weddings they have photographed. For years I had friends ask me to take their wedding pictures and I would always say no. I just did not feel I had the background to take photos  on their special day. Now I would get them to let me take some artsy pictures to supplement to their professional photographer. And later I started to give wedding pictures as gifts to friends who could not afford a photographer. Now I do  weddings knowing I will not ruin someones special day. For all the money a wedding costs do not cheap out on the photographer. Does that mean you have to spend thousands of dollar ... no not really ... you need to find someone you feel comfortable with and who knows what they are doing.

1. Ask your friend who they used? do you like their pictures?

2 Ask to see the proofs from a whole wedding . anyone can take 2000 pictures and come up with 2 great pictures..but can the photographer take 500 picture and come up with 450 great pictures. By seeing the pictures taken from the whole wedding you can see how they capture group shots, action shots , if they are able to capture the moments that mean something

Should your music speak for itself ..yes.. will it?...no not always... Connect with the people at your show...give them something to talk about the next day. Even if you are playing a shitty little club, make the crowd (even if the crowd is one person) talk about you ...think about the shows and bands you have seen ... what was it that made the show great...I have seen many bands with great music but were boring to watch.... I have seen bands that were fun to watch but the music was not so great... but I have gone back to see them again cause it was a lot of fun... use the stage move , move around , jump up and down something.  I'm not saying you have to be Wendy O Williams on the stage but give them something to talk about. STOP KEEPING YOUR EYES CLOSED

If  in fact I think almost everyone  should watermark all their art work…. Maybe then we will get a little respect…recently I was chastised by a band for putting watermarks on my work…this person went off on a rant because I watermark a musician he liked… I might add that this person is from a semi famous band …I have had my work stolen by bands that say they will at least tag me but have not…I have had people take my images and the lab that blew up the picture got paid more money then I did. When I go to a show I carry about $20,000 dollars on my back… I want to show my work in the best possible way but when I do people  want the work for free..I went to school , I paid for my equipment by working other jobs…everything I make goes back into equipment…stop giving your work away for free…I have heard every excuse in the book… “I am saving for my video” “I don’t get paid” “my (brother , mother , sister , girlfriend , friend will do it cheaper” I am good at what I do…but I am tired of everyone else getting paid but me… the music store does not give you a guitar  or amp  for free .. the gas u need to get to your gig is not free .. why do I have to be…so watermark all your work… let people know who you are

The first time u saw a picture of yourself on stage was cool....and it still is. But if you really hate it...and you don't need the publicity ...here is how to make it happen...try an oil and water show in the background, back lighting,  wear a baseball hat...or use red lighting  or do it all and really piss off photoraphers...but that will only cause the photographers to want your picture more...now if the photographer is anything like me....well it won't matter cause I will get the shot...but it will ruin the picture for most amateurs, photographer's with bad cheap equipment and cell phone users.....
